Travelling abroad? Do the right thing and sign up for the breadcrumb trail.

The crisis and support centre (CDCS) of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE), a 24/7 service, is responsible for protecting French nationals living or travelling abroad.

To do this, it draws up and constantly updates safety recommendations, which it distributes mainly via two tools:

  • The Travel advice are designed to help you prepare for and make the most of your holiday or business trip. For 192 destinations, they list the health and safety risks, the precautions to take, the formalities for entering and staying in the country, and useful information and addresses. The Travel Reports are updated regularly.
  • Le Breadcrumb trail enables French nationals staying in a country for less than 6 months to receive last-minute alerts and safety instructions by e-mail or text message, if the situation in the country they are visiting warrants it. These alerts may relate to natural, security or health risks.
