What is a domestic borehole?
A borehole is classified as domestic where its use is limited to a family’s usual needs for the garden, personal hygiene, human consumption and the vegetable patch (reserved for family consumption). In any event, any withdrawal of less than 1,000 m³ per year is deemed to be for domestic use, whether it is carried out by means of a single installation or several.
What rules must you follow when building a well in your garden?
You must notify us of your project using a form at least one month before work begins via the DUPLOS website.
Le DUPLOS website is an online portal for the declaration of boreholes, which incorporates the procedure for declaring domestic boreholes via an online Cerfa form. It is the responsibility of the drilling company to submit this declaration prior to the start of works; otherwise, it is the property owner’s responsibility to regularise existing wells.
Once the online filing process is complete, the Cerfa No. 13837*02 will be completed electronically using the completed forms, and then emailed simultaneously to the various stakeholders, namely the owner, the town hall and the DDT(M).

Once the well has been constructed, an accredited laboratory must carry out an analysis of the water intended for human consumption.
Accredited laboratories for water testing
No later than one month after the work has been completed, you must report the work carried out and attach the results of the water tests for your well to the initial works declaration form.
